BEHIND THE SCENES OF SKIING: THE SECRETS OF SNOWMAKING
Have you ever wondered how ski slopes are groomed, how a snow cat or a snow cannon works? Are you curious to see the backstage of snowmaking and to discover the secrets of this wonderful world?
The snowmaking sector is pure magic! Although it is little known, this sector is full of secrets and curiosities to reveal. In order to ensure perfect skiing conditions every day there is plenty to do and there is a fully qualified staff who works day and night on the slopes, riding snow cats and making snow. Careful care and a lot of maintenance are needed, but the staff of the Ciampac ski area is highly motivated and enthusiast and they enjoy every single moment and emotion this job gives them.
For this reason, the snowmaking operators of Ciampac would like to reveal to you all their secrets during the activity “Behind the scenes of skiing”. They will tell you how their job is, what it means to prepare an entire ski area for the winter season and how to ensure perfect slopes until the end of the season. They will share with you interesting notions of snow science, a discipline that studies the physical-chemical characteristics of snow and enables them to take advantage of low temperature and favorable weather forecast.
You will have the chance to see how a snow cat is done and how it works. You will admire a snow cannon in action and you could ask the professionals all you want to know about the snowmaking sector and their job in general. With this activity the staff of Ciampac is certain to succeed in sharing with you all the emotions this job and the wonderful scenery of the ski area give.
To complete the experience, you will enjoy a tasty aperitif at sunset on the terrace of the Crepa Neigra mountain hut – with a breathtaking view of the Sella Group and Piz Boè. To go back to Alba you can take the cable car or ski along the black slope Ciampac.
