RIDGES TOWARDS CREPA NEIGRA
What’s better than a 360-degree view of the Sella Group, Sassolungo, Crepa Neigra and Colac?! Take the cable car and the chairlift to comfortably reach the 2,428 meters of Sella Brunech. From there, follow the signs for Pian de Sele and continue along the ridge trail, admiring the green Ciampac basin on one side and the wild Val de Grepa on the other. As you look up, you’ll be amazed by the majesty of the Dolomites, contrasting sharply with the Crepa Neigra, a mountain of volcanic origin and therefore darker than all the other peaks.
After an easy up and down, you reach the small plateau of Pian de Sele (2,346 meters), right at the foot of the Crepa Neigra, in about an hour. From here, you have two options: a) descend directly towards the Ciampac basin and take the cable car back to Alba di Canazei; b) take a short scenic detour to Spiz de Soforcela (2,484 meters), another spectacular panoramic point offering a unique view of the Fassa Valley, and then return to Ciampac following the downhill path.
Tip for families: the thematic route “On the tracks of Ciampy” also runs along this trail. Pick up the booklet at the info point and enrich your walk with lots of interesting facts about chamois. All the information HERE.
