NOT ONLY SKIING

Because the mountains in winter are not just about skiing! If you don’t ski or want to spend an alternative day at high altitude without skis, here are the proposals of the Ciampac ski area!

For all lovers of winter sports, the snowshoe ring route is absolutely not to be missed. A track immersed in white, right below the slopes of Mount Colac, with breathtaking views of the Dolomites. By following the signs along the entire route, you will cross wooden bridges, reach evocative and peaceful places where you can completely immerse yourself in nature and you will be able to admire the wonderful Sella Group with Piz Boè from numerous panoramic points.

The circular route can be done every day on your own and, for those who do not have snowshoes, it is possible to rent them directly at Ciampac at the Crepa Neigra mountain refuge, or in Alba di Canazei from Ski Paolo, right at the station of the Ciampac cable car.

Furthermore, every Wednesday a group snowshoe hike is organised, accompanied by an expert guide. You will thus spend a beautiful morning at high altitude, discovering many curiosities about the alpine environment, about the tracks of animals in the snow and obviously about Ciampac, a basin of glacial origin at 2160 meters above sea level.

Reservation required. To participate in the Wednesday snowshoeing click here.

But not just sports, the Ciampac ski area also satisfies the little ones! What better place for a family day than a ski area with spectacular views, a playground on the snow and four mountain refuges to choose from for a good typical lunch?

In fact, just a few steps from the cable car mountain station, you will find the C I A M P A R K: playground on the snow with wooden games and incredible views of the Dolomites. In addition to swings, slides and wooden castles, next to the playground there is also a small track for snow tubes and sleds for funny slides on the snow! If you prefer, you can go up with your personal sleds or, if you don’t have one, you can use the snow tubes made available to all guests free of charge.

Last but not least, every Thursday you can’t miss the activity “Behind the scenes of skiing“: a unique experience to discover all the secrets of snowmaking, satisfy all your curiosities about this magical and little-known world and see the powerful vehicles up close, just before night work.

The meeting is at 2.30pm with Iacopo, Ciampac’s slope and snowmaking manager, who will be ready to tell you all the details of his job, answer your questions and show you how the snow cannons and cats work. The experience can only end with a toast in the mountain refuge, accompanied by a delicious mixed platter of cured meats and cheese.

If the world of snow making intrigues you and you want to find out more, this is the perfect activity for you!
