Ciampac: EMOTIONS AT HIGH ALTITUDE
Located above 2100 meters of altitude, the Ciampac basin offers you a spectacular view of the Dolomites, from the Sella Group with the majestic Piz Boè to the legendary south face of the Marmolada. It can be reached in about ten minutes from Alba di Canazei by a high-performance cable car, which makes Ciampac easily accessible for everyone. Once you reach the Ciampac basin you can then take the chairlift that takes you to the top, to the panoramic point of Sella Brunech (2428 metres), where you will find The Seated Path which consists of beautiful thrones and curious wooden benches created by the artist Marco Nones, all worth trying!
Up there you will be spoilt for choice as there is a wide range of high-altitude trekking routes. You find all the excursions here, but we recommend trying the panoramic path which leads to Col Bel, an exceptional viewpoint from where to admire the Catinaccio, the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto, the Sella Group and the Marmolada from the best perspective. Ciampac is also the starting point for those who want to venture along the renowned Ferrata dei Finanzieri, a via ferrata that climbs the 2715 metres of Mount Colac. Another option is the Hike&Bike, a circular route which combines hiking on the panoramic ridges from Buffaure to Sella Brunech, the descent to Alba di Canazei by cable car and the return trip by bike along the beautiful cycle path of Val di Fassa until Pozza di Fassa. For a peculiar experience, adults can opt for the thematic route “Out of the Box”.
And that’s not all! Summer 2026 brings exciting news: the Via ferrata Crepa Neigra has been completed, allowing you to ascend the iconic Ciampac monolith and admire some of the most beautiful views of the Dolomites, from Colac and the Marmolada to the majestic Sella Group and Sassolungo.
Ciampac is also a perfect area for families. Just think of the Ciampark, a high-altitude playground with wooden games, immersed in an enchanted landscape. In addition to the traditional games such as slides and swings, new fun and original games have been introduced: mini golf “by hand”, bowling, Connect Four in a giant version, huge memory and puzzles, a dragon-shaped track for wooden balls and much more. With a short walk you can also reach the stream where you can find the precious stones using sieves!
Not to mention the beautiful thematic routes! Along the path that leads to the chairlift, a beautiful route has been set up, also accessible with trekking strollers. Climbing up the various wooden works depicting the powerful vehicles used at high altitude by our staff, all the children will become real engine experts. They will also have a mission: find the magic word, necessary to obtain the driving licence!
From 6 years of age upwards, “On the tracks of Ciampy” awaits you. Along this route in stages dedicated to chamois, which has been renewed for summer 2026, young and old will be captivated by the engaging tale of Ciampy, who is frightened because he can no longer see his shadow. Upon arrival, children will also receive an original prize based on the story in the illustrated booklet.
And then there’s the thematic route for children aged 5 years and over to discover lots of curiosities about marmots and join Margot the marmot during her adventures. After picking up the booklet at the Info Point you can set off on an adventure and, using stickers, follow the clues and accompany Margot on her incredible journey.
Our weekly activities calendar is also very rich! Every Monday and Friday the guide will accompany you along a path “Looking for Marmots“, in search of these friendly high mountain dwellers, which are likely to be spotted in our area. On Tuesday you can choose to relax with an integral yoga class at high altitude, or try the new panoramic via ferrata of Crepa Neigra with a mountain guide. Every Wednesday it is possible to visit the small farm of the Tobià del Giagher Refuge and find out more about “The animal friends of Ciampac”. On Thursday mornings, families can enjoy the activity “The magic of butter” – a manual workshop to personally experience the local tradition of churning – whereas in the afternoon it is possible to join the activity “Beekeeper for a day” and discover many interesting facts about the magical world of bees and the work of a beekeeper. Last but not least, there are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy moments of well-being at high altitude and to take part in panoramic excursions accompanied by a local guide.
Even the gastronomic offer of Ciampac is always a guarantee! To recharge your batteries in the basin there are four easily accessible mountain refuges, where you can taste the delicacies of the Ladin and Trentino cuisine.
You can also stay overnight at the Tobià del Giagher Refuge and the Ciampac Refuge and thus live the unforgettable experience of sunrise and sunset at high altitude.
