Ciampac: EMOTIONS AT HIGH ALTITUDE

Located above 2100 meters of altitude, the Ciampac basin offers you a spectacular view of the Dolomites, from the Sella Group with the majestic Piz Boè to the legendary south face of the Marmolada. It can be reached in about ten minutes from Alba di Canazei by a high-performance cable car, which makes Ciampac easily accessible for everyone.

Up there you will be spoilt for choice as there is a wide range of high-altitude trekking routes. You find all the excursions here, but we recommend trying the new panoramic path which leads to Col Bel, an exceptional viewpoint from where to admire the Catinaccio, the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto, the Sella Group and the Marmolada from the best perspective. Ciampac is also the starting point for those who want to venture along the renowned Ferrata dei Finanzieri, a via ferrata that climbs the 2715 metres of Mount Colac. Another option is the Hike&Bike, a circular route which combines hiking on the panoramic ridges from Buffaure to Sella Brunech, the descent to Alba di Canazei by cable car and the return trip by bike along the beautiful cycle path of Val di Fassa until Pozza di Fassa. For a peculiar experience, adults can opt for the thematic route “Out of the Box”.

But Ciampac is also a perfect area for families. Just think of the Ciampark, a high-altitude playground with wooden games, immersed in an enchanted landscape. In addition to the traditional games such as slides and swings, new fun games have been introduced: mini golf “by hand”, bowling, Connect Four in a giant version, huge memory and puzzles and much more. With a short walk you can also reach the stream where you can find the precious stones using sieves!

Not to mention the beautiful thematic routes! Along the path that leads to the chairlift, a beautiful route has been set up, also accessible with trekking strollers. Climbing up the various wooden works depicting the powerful vehicles used at high altitude by our staff, all the children will become real engine experts. They will also have a mission: find the magic word, necessary to obtain the driving licence!

From 6 years of age upwards, “On the tracks of Ciampy” awaits you. Along this route in stages dedicated to chamois, young and old will be asked to solve a series of quizzes: only in this way will they discover the degree of friendship that can connect them to our mascot! On arrival, an original prize to keep in touch with these animal friends.

There are then the weekly activities. Every Monday the guide will accompany you along “The Marmot Trail“, in search of these friendly high mountain dwellers, which are likely to be spotted in our area. On Tuesday you can choose between an integral yoga lesson at high altitude, or a panoramic guided excursion starting from Col Rodella and arrival at Buffaure. On Wednesday morning the “Aperi-Nordic” activity awaits you, to learn about the benefits of Nordic walking and enjoy a nice aperitif in the refuge. While every Thursday the excursion “On the chamois’ trail” takes place, for all those who want to venture along paths crossed almost exclusively by animals in little-known areas. On Fridays, instead, the activity “The magic of butter” is organized, a manual workshop dedicated to families to personally experience the local tradition of churning.

Even the gastronomic offer of Ciampac is always a guarantee! To recharge your batteries in the basin there are four easily accessible mountain refuges, where you can taste the delicacies of the Ladin and Trentino cuisine.
